Phil Johns

Hub manager and trustee

I’m the Hub Manager and one of the charity trustee's who has been in the building trade for over 20+ years.  I have a wealth of experience from plastering to pastoring.
At present I am a builder and a family man with 3 grandchildren at present. I enjoy riding a K1600 GTLe motorcycle when the weather is good and especially enjoyed the experience when l went around Europe with my wife in 2018. We travelled 12000km from Bournemouth over the Alps to Italy to Malta and back through Southern France, Spain and Portugal.
I enjoy sport and try to play tennis now and then and love being in the countryside.

Mark Ferris

Chairman & Trustee

After leaving school, l worked for Nat West bank for some years, then went travelling for a short time, and on returning, ended up in various office jobs until my late twenties.

Since then, for the last 33 years or so, l have trained and worked as a social worker in children's work, both here and for a time, abroad. l am married with 2 grown up children and l also love walking, watching my beloved Chelsea FC, and spending time with friends. The Hub has been an amazing discovery for me personally, making new friends, and hopefully helping other guys to do the same, in an accepting and welcoming environment.

Kerry Withers

Treasurer and Trustee

I’m a trustee and also fulfil the treasurer role within the Hub. I have been in aviation for 32 years now as an aerospace engineer, starting out my career in the South African Airforce and completing an apprenticeship.

I travel extensively around the world for my job and work for a great company which was formed and run based on Christian ethics and principles. I have been actively involved in sports throughout school and into adulthood.
In February 1999 I followed my then fiancée over to the UK and married

my lovely, supportive wife Pat the same year. I have 2 step children (Married into a ready-made family 😊) & 4 fantastic grandchildren.

I too enjoy riding an S1000RR motorcycle and am the fairest-weather rider in the world. I am also a member of the Dorset & Hants branch of the CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association). Yearly I travel to Europe with friends to enjoy 9 days of motorcycling bliss and friendship.

Rob Kitely

Secretary and trustee

Previous to my retirement I worked in a London Borough as the Head of Community Education. The experience I gained has enabled me to now support the Hub Trustees as  Secretary. My previous leisure interests have included rose growing and a love of ballet and dance.  Roses and dancers, like grandchildren and families, need lots of encouragement and support, activities I enjoy sharing with colleagues and friends of the Hub

David Auger

Trustee

My early career was in medical research, specialising in electron microscopy. Deciding I would prefer to work with ‘whole’ people rather than bits of them, I later changed career, training to be a church minister which has taken me to various places around the country. My final job was Community Chaplin in Wiltshire where I was involved with the Foodbank and giving support during Covid.

Since retiring I have returned to Bournemouth to be near family. In addition to being involved in the Men’s Hub I also help out at Bournemouth Foodbank. I still have an interest in the sciences, enjoy some bird watching and recently completed a series of art lessons.

Chris Scupham

Trustee

I am married with four grown up children. Formerly employed as a Technical Buyer, Baptist Minister, Letting Agent and now semi-retired but still finding homes for people. I have a wide variety of interests and enjoy sailing, gardening, all ball sports, reading and walking.

For me the Men’s Hub provides a place to enjoy other guys company, having some fun but also able to talk and share in a safe environment.
